My name is Leaf and for the last 5 years I have been handling and training dogs in rescue; tackling the route cause of problem behaviours in order to set them up for success in their new homes. Additionally I too understand what it's like having a dog at home with behaviour issues, my rescue shepherd called Max came along with some reactivity, anxiety and quite severe separation issues.
I am a current 2nd year Animal Behaviour and Welfare BSc student, having achieved A's and A+'s in my first year modules. After my degree, I aspire to be a Clinical Animal Behaviourist registered under the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC). Symbiotic Canine Behaviour and Welfare is my new small business I run whilst studying and working part-time at a local rescue shelter.
I created Symbiotic Canine Behaviour and Welfare because I believe in the power of positive reinforcement training. I use reward-based techniques to encourage dogs to learn new behaviours and commands. I believe that training should be enjoyable for both dogs and their owners, and my methods reflect this belief.
I offer behaviour modification programs that are designed to help dogs overcome unwanted behaviours such as aggression, separation anxiety, and fear. I use a combination of training techniques to help dogs learn new coping mechanisms and develop positive associations.
Every dog is unique and requires a personalised training plan. I work with each owner to develop a plan that fits their dog's specific needs and goals but most importantly is achievable.
